Do you have 2 minutes to show your love for water? Today is World Water Day – a day for all of us to celebrate this life-giving resource, take action to protect it, and support communities suffering without access to clean, safe drinking water, including right here in Canada.

Here are some ways you can join in today’s celebration and make a real difference:

Support communities fighting back against Nestlé! Watch this amazing new video of the work the Council of Canadians is doing with communities and environmental groups to challenge Nestlé’s outrageous bottled water grabs. [ https://secure.canadians.org/page/20925/petition/1 ]

Stop BP from drilling offshore of Nova Scotia! Send a message directly to the Trudeau government calling on it to reverse its approval for Big Oil giant BP, the company responsible for the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, to begin drilling offshore of Nova Scotia. [ https://secure.canadians.org/page/20746/petition/1 ]

Call for the end to drinking water advisories in First Nations once and for all! Write a letter to Prime Minister Trudeau to urge him to uphold the human rights to water and sanitation in Indigenous nations. [ https://canadians.org/sites/default/fil ... erdrop.pdf ]

Demand protections for every lake and river! Sign our petition calling on the Trudeau government to fully restore federal protections for all lakes and rivers that were gutted by the Harper government. Any water legislation must also incorporate the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. [ https://secure.canadians.org/page/20064/petition/1 ]

Check out World Water Day events that the Council of Canadians is holding in communities across the country. [ https://canadians.org/worldwaterday ]

We all need water to live. And there’s no better time to take action to protect it than now.

Happy World Water Day and thank you for being a water defender!

Happy World Water Day!
