Middle East Oil

The Baku/Ceyhan/Tbilisi oil pipeline runs from Baku in Azerbaijan up through Georgia, then west through Turkey, and south to the port of Ceyhan on the Meditteranian. The inauguration of the completion of that part of the line recently took place in Ceyhan.

In Tbilisi, Georgia, representatives from British Petroleum,[BP] Turkey, Israel and other V.I.P.'s were planning a four section under water pipeline to move oil, natural gas, and electricity, south through the Mediterranian, just west of Syria and Lebanon to a port in Israel, from where it could be moved to other world markets.

This tentative plan for Middle East oil would require a great deal of security. Probably the kind of security that could be provided only by a well-armed military superpower like the US, presently controlled by the Bush administration and the oil lobby. Of course, that would require governments in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Iran, as well as Afghanistan to install subservient puppet governments, willing to cooperate with US foreign policy.

At about the same time, the Lebanese Hezbollah faction, gave Israel an excuse to launch a ferocious and devastating number of air attacks on southern Lebanon. Their targets involved strategic bridges, roads, power stations, hospitals and residential areas. Many civilians were killed or injured. A United Nations [UN] observer post was destroyed, killing a Canadian UN observer.

If we, the citizens of North America, do not like or want to hear about tentative US plans to invade more countries in the Middle East, we may be sleep-walking in to an era of unprecedented global horror.

There have been reports that US submarines, equipped with nuclear weapons, just in case, are moving towards the Middle East.

Invading a sovereign country is very risky. Citizens may not like their governments, but on the other hand, they may be unwilling to turn their country over to an invader. For example, the devastating losses to the German army in World War 2, when Hitler decided to invade Russia to rid he world of Communism.

The dinosaurs of war and killing are using the excuse that we must ensure that the North American continent has a continuous supply of oil to keep our economy viable -- and profitable.
