Will New Brunswick choose a “small, modular” nuclear reactor that’s not small at all (among other problems)?

Dr. Gordon Edwards is the president of the Canadian Coalition for Nuclear Responsibility based in Montreal.
EXCERPT: "The backstory is that NB Power is in talks with OPG about co-ownership of the Point Lepreau reactor, and some of us think it's possible that part of the deal will be an agreement for NB Power to "buy" one of OPG's BWRX-300 reactors, which have not yet been built. Gordon's story gives a synopsis of where that project sits now.
The factoid in the mix is that New Brunswick's new minister responsible for Energy has said in the past that maybe NB Power should shop around for another reactor, meaning the BWRX-300 and not the two "advanced" designs that NB Power seems still obsessed with. He said last week that getting the Point Lepreau reactor back up and running again is his number one priority.
While the Point Lepreau reactor remains down for major repairs, it's costing NB Power big-time for every down-day. The various news outlets have cost estimates ranging from $900K up to $4-million a day in lost revenue including replacement power. So far it's been down 231 days (!!) and NB Power has said, rather vaguely, that it will be up and running again in December. . . . . "
