FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 5, 4-6 pm: RALLY AGAINST THE SAFE PUBLIC SPACES ACT—AND AGAINST FURTHER HARASSMENT OF UNHOUSED PEOPLE, REGINA CITY HALL COURTYARD
From The Hampton Project: We are reaching out to you with a serious and time sensitive concern. The province is asking municipalities to pass bylaws to opt-in to “The Safe Public Spaces Act,” which will give increased discretion about what gets categorized as a weapon. We are concerned with any legislation that makes policies less clear and allows individuals to make arbitrary judgment calls regarding threats to public safety, especially when interacting with vulnerable community members.

Regina City Council will be debating a proposed bylaw very soon. We need your help to voice your opposition and help spread the word that this is a step down a dangerous path which opens the door for increased criminalization of marginalized community members.
