TWO SPECIAL EVENTS

THURSDAY OCTOBER 16, NOON: PUSHING FOR CLIMATE ACTION AT THE MUNICIPAL LEVEL: STRATEGIES FOR COLLABORATION
How can community groups effectively work with their local governments to push for local climate action?
When community groups organize at the local level, they can catalyze meaningful change. This session will explore how groups across Canada have advanced climate action within their municipalities and built strong relationships with elected officials. We’ll highlight practical strategies for building trust with local governments, identifying champions, and creating partnerships across sectors to move climate solutions forward.
We’ll also hear from Kye Kolody Watt and Sophia Young, who have built Better Bus Youth in Regina, to achieve more accessible transit. They’ll be joined by Councillor Shanon Zachidniak of Regina, who will share her perspective on working with community groups to advance this effort.
And we'll hear from Sunil Singal, an organizer with STAND.EARTH. He will speak to how residents and stakeholders came together to stop the Vancouver council from backtracking on its commitment to ban gas from new builds.

WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 22, NOON-2 pm: NO BUSINESS WITH ISRAELI GENOCIDE, LEGISLATIVE BUILDING (Lunch will be served at 12.)
As countries around the world are severing political and economic ties with Israel due to its ongoing genocide of Palestinians, Premier Scott Moe invited Israel’s ambassador to Saskatchewan to discuss deepening economic partnerships and cooperation.
Israel’s economy is in decline, with no signs of recovery, as investors are increasingly distancing themselves. Engaging in business with Israel is not only morally indefensible, it’s also a bad economic decision. Such ties will not only fail to generate profit for our province, they will damage our reputation and harm our relationships with other trading partners.
According to Israeli ambassador Iddo Moed, he saw many “parallels” between Israel and Saskatchewan on his recent visit. Indeed, both places are founded on colonial dispossession and the genocide of Indigenous peoples.
Join us as Premier Scott Moe delivers his Speech from the Throne to demand justice from Treaty 4 to Palestine, and make clear that we want NO BUSINESS WITH ISRAEL’S GENOCIDE. Organized by Palestine Solidarity Regina

TUESDAY OCTOBER 28, 5 pm: VIRTUAL LAUNCH OF LISTEN! KNOWING THE WORLD AND FIGHTING TO CHANGE IT, by Scott Neigh
Listen! expands our understanding of "listening" as not an individual, passive act but as fundamental to constructing the social world — and to making it more just. As an activist, journalist, and host of Talking Radical Radio, Scott Neigh shares what he's learned from decades of conversing with other activists and scholars.
What does it mean to find oneself overwhelmed by a world in turmoil, as the relentless news of genocide, climate change, and police violence drives home the urgent need for radical change but doesn't tell us how to make it happen? Listen! reflects deeply on the role of listening — from the moment of injustice to how we respond as individuals, to struggles by collective social movements. The book explores what these movements are, how they work, and what they do in the world, as well as the knowledge generated in and by them and the importance of listening to and within them. By sharpening our critical insight into listening, we can explicitly centre sensory pathways to understanding and strengthen our strategies for collective liberation as embodied and situated knowers.
