Dear Carol and Jeff,

Today’s program had a particularly wonderful segment… the one with the CANADIAN woman who chooses to celebrate her Muslim religion in the way that best fulfills her commitment to that religion.

On that issue I support this courageous woman 100%.

However the interview, specifically her words, highlighted the biggest fear I share with her as a Canadian… the rise of FASCISM under Steven Harper’s government.

If one takes the time to know and understand the rise of Fascism in Germany before WWII, one can see umpteen actions of the Nazis that the Steven Harper government has replicated: from the dividing of people and cultures, to the undermining of Parliament and Parliamentary procedures, to the abusive and arrogant bullying of the opposition, to the covert (one can only call omnibus bills a CLEAR attempt to hide their policies in a forest of trees...bills upon bills upon bills with virtually no debate allowed), to the engendering of fear in the public WHERE THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO FACTUAL BASIS FOR FEAR, to this so obvious demonizing of the Muslim women's dress traditions, that CANADIAN lady, who spoke so gently but strongly about how Harper is destroying everything we Canadians value, spoke the naked truth… Harper and his bunch of goons and intellectually-decrepit ‘yesmen’ ARE THE THING TO FEAR.

I would prefer that everyone (no exceptions) were bare-faced at any serious ‘legal’ event such as a citizenship or court appearance. But I also think a woman with the convictions this woman expressed could be accommodated in a more private audience with officials before the event so that everyone who was involved would know that her identity was fully known and documented. Where there is calm, reasonable effort on both sides, there is ALWAYS a solution.

NOW a reworked quote you may recognize: BUT because this ‘list' could be so long I’ll focus specifically about women’s issues only:

First they came for Women and I did not speak out (The United Nations has recognized the ‘attack' on women under the Harper regime!)

Then they came for the Muslim women and I did not speak out ( no explanation needed)
……
……
Then they came for me but there was nobody left to speak for me.

I am SURE the Harperites who have VIOLATED the sanctity of the CBC will quash this and it will never make the program.

BUT YOU KNOW FASCISM IS EXACTLY WHAT WE ARE FACING…. AND THAT IS SOMETHING TO FEAR!
