The Council of Canadians Fredericton chapter visited the Wolastoq Grandmothers Sisson Encampment to deliver supplies, provide lunch, cut firewood and help build a winter home to assist in the ongoing effort to stop the planned Sisson Brook open-pit tungsten and molybdenum mine that would be built at the headwaters of the Nashwaak River on Maliseet territory.

It now appears that Premier Kathleen Wynne won't end the ban, but Bill 160 still allows for the expansion of private clinics in the province.)

Despite an October 2015 election campaign promise to review changes, restore lost protections and incorporate modern safeguards in the Navigable Waters Protection Act gutted by the Harper government, federal environment minister Catherine McKenna replied to the Council of Canadians Guelph chapter in this letter (dated December 27, 2017) stating processes are still underway (more than two years after the election).
