On the agenda: “Central Library Renewal,” by which the Board means the demolition of the current building and then who knows what. While it is too late to submit a presentation, your presence would show support for those who are presenting and your opposition to the demolition of Central Library. Fix what needs to be fixed and, if necessary, expand out the back.


TUESDAY JUNE 11, 7 pm: TEACH-IN TUESDAY—WARD BOUNDARIES & THE WAR ON THE CORE, HAMPTON HUB, 1221 15TH AVE
Regina's new city council boundaries will split up inner city neighbourhoods and attach them to suburbs. Geographer Vanessa Mathews (U of R) will be joined by Trish Elliott (Engaged Neighbours United for Fairness - ENUF!) and Tiro Mthembu (No More War on the Core campaign) to talk about impacts and an upcoming court challenge. A Hampton Hub Tuesday Teach-In event.

Two very important items on the agenda:

a) Approve the Permanent Emergency Shelter Project, the first item on the agenda—it won’t do anything to end houselessness, so who cares, but it is an opportunity to let council know what they could do to address Regina’s houselessness crisis;

b) Change the name of Dewdney Ave, very near the end of the agenda—please let them vote for the change this time!

Hoping lots of folks will be making presentations on these matters (deadline noon, Monday June 10). Thursday’s email provided information on how to do this. You can also show support for the “good” side by simply attending the meeting.
