Presentation by Robert Stewart and Sean Tucker (University of Regina)
In nearly all cases where there is a serious injury or fatality in a Saskatchewan workplace, the related investigation is led by officers with the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety. This presentation explores whether RCMP and local police services should have a greater role in investigating workplace health and safety incidents for potential criminal charges. The presentation begins with a review of the current regulatory enforcement measures and prosecution outcomes in Saskatchewan. Next, we provide an overview of the criminal code provision related to workplace safety, relevant police training, and developments in other jurisdictions related to police investigations of work-related safety incidents in Canada.

Fall Group Description:
EcoStress Sask is offering a fall group from October 15th to December 17th, 2024. Meetings will be weekly on Tuesdays at 7pm Saskatchewan time by Zoom.
This ten-week long group will be a place where people can come together in mutual support for distress related to environmental threats and losses. Group meetings will include conversation, sharing, guidance in grounding practices, self-care, and more. The group will follow the Good Grief Network’s 10 Steps to Resilience & Empowerment in a Chaotic Climate.

Our non-profit organization runs on a "pay what you can" model with $300 suggested for the ten-week long group. We do not want cost to be a barrier. Everyone is welcome. Groups may decide to continue meeting on their own (without a facilitator) beyond the ten weeks.
