A former president of the National Association of Japanese Canadians, Art Miki negotiated for Redress for Japanese Canadians with the Mulroney government in 1988. Art will be reading from (and selling) his new book, Gaman: Perseverance, Japanese Canadians' Journey to Justice. Art's memoir talks about his forebears coming to Canada, his parents being born in Canada, and the infamous dispersal and dispossession of Japanese Canadians in the Second World War.
