MAKING PEACE VIGIL Newsletter - November 27, 2025

SPECIAL EVENT: SUNDAY NOVEMBER 30, 10 am – 1 pm: WAFFLE PARTY, REGINA UNION CENRE, 2709 12TH AVE
Elbows down - fist up, Saskatchewan!
Join us for the first “Waffle Party”, a monthly brunch series where we organize to foster a social movement here in Regina.

The Waffle was a wing of the NDP in the 60’s and 70’s that meant to invigorate social change in the country and eradicate the system of capitalism (head to Hampton Project’s Instagram bio for links to learn more). At the time, some members of the party said if they had to choose between waffling to the left and waffling to the right, they would rather waffle to the left. Today, the NDP seems to be waffling to the right!
*We do not wish to “rewarm the waffle”, but rather reinvigorate the vigor on which socialist movements are built upon.
Brunch is Pay What You Can with all proceeds going towards food & programming at Sunday Funday - DM to book a spot!

ENDORSEMENT INVITATION

THURSDAY DECEMBER 4, 6 pm: RESILIENCE FOR SUSTAINABLE ACTIVISM
Many of us entered movement work out of urgency and many of us are exhausted by it. The Resilience Toolkit offers an embodied, justice-aligned framework for sustaining activism over the long arc of the struggle. Rather than treating burnout, reactivity and conflict as personal failures, The Toolkit helps us understand them as predictable stress and trauma responses - and equips us with real-time regulation skills that expand our capacity to stay engaged without collapse or numbness.

CITY OF REGINA: STOP PROPOSED CUTS TO REGINA ARTS COMMUNITY FUNDING
[ https://www.saskartsalliance.ca/advocac ... y-funding/ ]

HELP SAVE THE REGINA FLORAL CONSERVATORY
Send an email to Mayor Bachynski and your City Councilor asking them not to cut funding for the Regina Floral Conservatory. The RFC has served Regina for over 35 years, providing an indoor garden sanctuary, run by volunteers of the Regina Garden Associates in partnership with the City of Regina. It costs the city roughly $60,000 per year – a modest investment for the value it brings.
The Conservatory is more than a pretty space: It supports well-being and mental health (lush greenery, tranquil environment, retreat from daily stress). With over 23,000 visitors each year, it supports tourism and adds to Regina’s unique cultural and nature-based offerings. It provides educational programming every year: Over 3,000 students from over 100 school-group visit the garden. It teaches us all environmental stewardship.
