SPECIAL ACTION: KEEP REGINA TRANSIT AFFORDABLE
The City of Regina is proposing a 10% fare hike. This would make Transit unaffordable for many riders.
Please contact Mayor Bachynski and your City Councillor and tell them not to increase Transit fares. Here are some points you might make:
Transit is the solution to traffic congestion in Regina.
Transit is very safe. It is the solution to traffic accidents in Regina.
Transit is part of the answer to a major global problem: climate change.
The right to freedom of movement is enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Raising Transit fares undermines that right. We should be aiming for social equity.
Do not make Transit unaffordable for many Regina residents.
Do not make Regina a more unequal and unjust society by raising Transit fares.

Sara Kishawi is a Palestinian community organizer and Sociology graduate from Vancouver Island University. Originally from Gaza, she has been a leading voice in campus and community organizing, and served as the spokesperson for the VIU Palestinian Solidarity Encampment. Through rallies, protests, and public talks, she works to raise awareness about the genocide in Gaza and encourages others to take meaningful action in support of Palestinian human rights.

Sara Kishawi is a Palestinian community organizer and Sociology graduate from Vancouver Island University. Originally from Gaza, she has been a leading voice in campus and community organizing, and served as the spokesperson for the VIU Palestinian Solidarity Encampment. Through rallies, protests, and public talks, she works to raise awareness about the genocide in Gaza and encourages others to take meaningful action in support of Palestinian human rights.

This includes care provided by the school’s staff, along with other services and public health initiatives, such as the File Hills Colony Hospital, the Fort Qu’Appelle Sanatorium, and the Fort Qu’Appelle Indian Hospital. They will also hear about the Church’s and the State’s motivations for providing these services, while actively seeking to suppress local forms of knowledge and healing practices.

The exhibition Unsilenced features work by Richard Boulet, Ruth Cuthand, Amy Snider, and Peter Tucker. It explores the often silenced or stigmatized topic of mental health through diverse perspectives and artistic media in the form of beading, fibre art, painting, sculpture and ceramic installation. A spotlight on mental health or wellness in Canada is timely, given the rising levels of anxiety in children and youth, about 1 in 5 Canadians experiencing a mental health challenge annually, and 1 in 3 affected in their lifetime, impacting daily functioning, work, and social life. The exhibition and its programming speak to the power of art as a method of exploring, processing and offering opportunities for meaningful dialogue on personal and collective experiences of mental health issues. The exhibition will run until May 3.
