The U.S. helped provide the arms to Israel in last year's destruction of Gaza.
By Amy Goodman / Democracy Now! March 2, 2015
Six months after the end of a devastating Israeli assault on Gaza, aid agencies have condemned the lack of progress in rebuilding Gaza, saying reconstruction of tens of thousands of destroyed homes, schools and hospitals has been "woefully slow," with 100,000 Palestinians still displaced. Our guest, Noam Chomsky, notes it was the Pentagon that supplied many of the weapons used in the massive destruction. "The arms were taken from arms the U.S. stores in Israel. They are pre-positioned in Israel for eventual use by U.S. forces," Chomsky says. "Israel is regarded essentially as an offshore military base."

Obama administration says speech is injecting partisanship into longstanding relationship
The Associated Press Posted: Mar 03, 2015 9:07 AM ET| Last Updated: Mar 03, 2015 11:15 AM ET
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seizing the bully pulpit of Congress to warn of the danger of trusting Iran to curb its nuclear ambitions, even as President Barack Obama's negotiators continue talking with the Iranians in hopes of closing a deal this month.
Netanyahu insists he is privy to emerging details of a potential agreement and is expected to lay out specific concerns in Tuesday's speech to a joint meeting of Congress.
The Obama administration complains that the speech arranged by congressional Republicans is injecting partisanship into the longstanding alliance between Israel and the U.S. Netanyahu said Monday he means no disrespect to Obama but is morally obliged to speak out against any deal that might leave open a chance for Israel's archenemy to develop nuclear weapons.
