The U.S. Department of State's Coordinator for International Energy
Affairs, David L. Goldwyn, will host the first multilateral event
under the Global Shale Gas Initiative (GSGI) on August 23 and 24.

Seventeen different countries will send representatives to attend the
GSGI Conference to discuss the importance of shale gas as a lower-
carbon fuel option that can help reduce CO2 emissions while ensuring
energy security and economic development in the 21st century.

Mr. Goldwyn will brief the press on-camera, on-the-record on the GSGI
conference at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24 in the Carl T. Rowan

CONFERENCE: Global Shale Gas Water Management Initiative 2010

http://www.shale-gas-water-management.com/

October 28-29, 2010 Crowne Plaza, DALLAS, TX

Providing Solutions For Tackling Challenges At All Levels Of Water Management For Shale Gas Production

The market-changing growth of shale gas production in recent years has resulted in the emergence of pressing environmental and water management challenges. There is no doubt that Shale Gas is a key energy source of the future and it is imperative at this time for operators to overcome legislative and operational challenges related to water sourcing, storage, transport, treatment and disposal that could stand in the way of progress. Sourcing and ecologically disposing of large quantities of water used in the hydraulic fracturing process is at the forefront of these challenges and these issues are raising increasing concern from stakeholders at every level, including operators, regulators and the public.

Now is the time to directly address the water management issues at every stage in the production and completions process in order to minimize barriers to progress and increase the commercial viability of shale gas production.

The Global Shale Gas Water Management Initiative 2010 is the only event on the global market which provides a comprehensive toolkit of cost effective water management solutions to shale gas operators industry-wide. Water sourcing, disposal, treatment and re-cycling will be targeted from four perspectives to provide maximum industry impact: strategic, technological, regulatory and case-study based learning. By using this dynamic approach, the key issues in the market will be addressed to provide attendees with take-away solutions that can be implemented directly to business operations to reach maximum efficiency.

The mission of this event is to make industry-changing progress in the form of focused and action oriented solutions to water management issues based on in-depth knowledge demands of firms across the industry. This summit will specifically target all the key challenges of water management as well as critical spin-off issues such as air emission mitigation and spill avoidance and contingency.

WATCH: Obama's shale gas policy exposed in Briefing on the Global Shale Gas Initiative Conference

http://www.stockhouse.com/Blogs/ViewDet ... x?p=106785

Obama's shale gas policy exposed — stripped naked — by his International Energy Coordinator, David L. Goldwyn, speaking to representatives of 20 developing nations.
With the state (the Government of India) owning all the mineral rights in India, we can expect the already incredible suicide rate for farmers in India to surge dramatically, when the Indian government signs its leases for shale gas extraction.
When questioned, Goldwyn stated that the National Security Council and the Energy Information Agency expects domestic shale and coal bed gas extraction to provide 30% of future US gas supply (that's a 300% increase over the present portion of gas supplied from unconventional sources).

— DJC

Goldwyn quotes: "I wouldn’t agree that there is a destructive global competition for oil."
"As part of this initiative, the next step is really to offer an a la carte menu to countries about the cooperation they need. If they are mature and they want to talk about water and safety, that’s the agenda. If they’re at the front end and they want to talk about resource assessment, we’ll bring USGS and BLM to them. It’ll be whatever the country wants."
"But part of the message that we have given is that for any country you need more than the resource. You have to have a regulatory system. You have to have the infrastructure. You have to have protection of intellectual property."
