Military spending is out of control. Globally, governments squandered US$1.75 trillion on militaries in 2012, and still the weapons corporations want more.
How many lives could be saved if even a small portion of the dollars spent on weapons and war preparations were instead spent on human needs?
Sign the petition! Tell Finance Minister Joe Oliver to reduce military spending and fund human needs!

Canada is still overspending on defence despite the end of our war in Afghanistan. The government will spend $18.6 billion in 2014-15 for military equipment, armed forces and the like, while everyday Canadians struggle to make ends meet, and our social programs continue to be underfunded.
If Canada reduced its military spending to pre–September 11, 2001 levels, it would free up $2.5 billion every year in today’s dollars.
How would you spend $2.5 billion?
Public transit; Health care; The environment; Child care; Post-secondary education
