The Council of Canadians Prince Albert chapter's position on pharmacare has been highlighted in the Prince Albert Daily Herald.

Peter Lozinski, the managing editor of the newspaper, writes, "The Council of Canadians is calling on the federal government to create a national pharmacare plan. The advocacy group says such a plan would save Canadians billions while also allowing those on the lower end of the income spectrum to afford medications they would otherwise not be able to."

He notes, "The group recently released a report about the benefits of such a plan, and Prince Albert’s local chapter of the council launched their campaign [on June 5]."

Lozinski then quotes Prince Albert chapter activist Nancy Carswell who says, “Although Canada has universal health, there’s no drug coverage. One out of ten Canadians can’t afford their prescription.”

The Daily Herald has a circulation of about 5,684 readers.

Over the past two weeks, 18 Council of Canadians chapters mobilized - through meetings with their Member of Parliament, leafleting at public gatherings and at a public forum, and through letters to the editor - in support of a national pharmacare program that would provide universal access to prescription drugs for everyone in this country.
