FOREWORD:
Perhaps it was the realization I was nearing middle age that caused the restlessness within me. I had no professional training and, consequently, no career. I prayerfully considered my options and decided to seek employment in the one area I definitely was experienced. As a mother and a farmer's wife, I had practicc, lots of practice, and confidence as a cook.
I was offered a cook's position which started my career. For the next twenty years, I had adventure travelling and working at a variety of types of cooking in the four western provinces and all three territories.
I will share with you some of my experiences and recipes as well as some poetry God has given me.
I hope this will be interesting and inspiring for you.

I dedicate this book to the memory of my husband who was the one that tested my cooking for forty-four years and shared with me many trails and tales.
All proceeds from the sale of this book will go to help the very needy people of Honduras whom we both were honoured to be a part of. - Sharren Carlson, Author
EXCERPT:
“We had one regular lady trucker that drove a big semi and she was known as “Kathy Manywheels”. Her name suited her and she could hold her own with the guys. Many mornings, I would have a trucker stick his head in the kitchen door and call out to me: “I'll have the usual”. Most of the times, I knew how they liked their eggs or their favourite omelet. Kathy Manywheels always had steak and eggs. Some things, one never forgets. The reason being, she told me, it was cooked the best on the highway.”
