ECOJUSTICE: Two big court wins on two coasts!

Subject: Breaking news: Two big court wins on two coasts!

Last June, we were in Federal Court challenging an aquaculture licence issued by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. The licence allowed a fish farm operator to decide whether to transfer farmed Atlantic salmon carrying disease agents into Pacific Ocean waters shared with wild salmon.

Then, in October, we appeared before the Nova Scotia Supreme Court where we represented three residents of Harrietsfield, Nova Scotia, who were fighting to have a clean-up order upheld after their drinking water was contaminated by years of industrial activity.

A lot of time and energy goes into preparing for court cases like these. Then, the waiting begins. We couldn’t believe it when, yesterday, after months of anticipation, decisions in both cases came down within an hour of each other.

And the best part is, they were both big wins for our clients and the environment.

Read more about these important victories for wild salmon [ https://www.ecojustice.ca/pressrelease/ ... onditions/ ] and for Nova Scotia residents fighting for safe drinking water. [ https://www.ecojustice.ca/pressrelease/ ... -up-order/ ]

It takes a community of supporters to make wins like these possible.

Thank you for all your past and future support of our legal work. Together, we are building the case for a better earth.

My sincerest gratitude,

Devon Page, executive director
