21 Years of inefficiency and ineptness from PMRA

Letter to the Editor;

"Integrity is telling the truth to myself. And honesty is telling the truth to other people." (Spencer Johnson)

When Rachel Carson wrote Silent Spring in 1962, she raised public awareness about the effects of pesticide use on our health and our environment. However, over fifty-four years after Carson drew attention to the health and environmental impacts of DDT, use of equally hazardous pesticides has only increased.

Who can we believe?….. for even some of the "experts" are having doubts and are undecided about pesticide.

Our governments are supposed to be accountable for actions, to regulate and make decisions that protect the public interest, the environment. plus our health and well-being. Regrettably, that responsibility is often overlooked.

Human health and our survival depends on a healthy environment.

Unfortunately, today's governments are unduly influenced and controlled in too many ways by industry and corporations with their promises of investments, development, technological solutions and globalized trade.

Are readers to understand,… that farmers, as the growers of food, have to keep inhaling and using this poison which makes them and us sick in the process, so we can save the worldwide population explosion from starvation? I Don't Think So!

And, who came up with the "bright Idea" that "we" have a responsibility to feed the world's masses of hungry people. Is that written down somewhere? How hypocritical, when one considers, we grow food grains for ethanol fuel.

Prof. David Suzuki tells us . . . . "If we pollute the air, water and soil that keeps us alive and well, and destroy the biodiversity that allows natural systems to function, no amount of money will save us"
