This past week, I attended The Taste of Ramadan, hosted by the Anatolian Muslim Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. When I received the invitation, I immediately said yes. I have come to know this community and have a deep love for their openness and decency. They believe strongly in the principles of equity, inclusion and diversity.

The event was a multi-faith celebration, bringing together Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, and Christian neighbours for a beautiful feast.

Canada knows that diversity isn't a threat; it is what makes us a strong and democratic nation. No wonder Trump hates us.

I want to share the speech I gave. Being present for this event felt important because we must come together in a time of darkness. These events become more than social and cultural gatherings; they are essential acts of resistance. . . . ."
