The National Day of Mourning, or Workers' Mourning Day, is observed in Canada on April 281. It commemorates workers who have been killed, injured or suffered illness due to workplace related hazards and occupational exposures1. The day of remembrance was launched by the Canadian Labour Congress, and in 1991, the Parliament of Canada passed the Workers Mourning Day Act making April 28 an official Day of Mourning.

Do you find yourself cursing the federal government when it comes to foreign policy, the provincial government when it comes to provincial policy, and the mayor when it comes to civic policy? The Regina Peace Council invites you to write letters to government officials on Tuesday April 30th at 6:30. The peace council will provide addresses of government officials, paper, pens, and postage. Letters to Members of Parliament do not require postage. If you'd like to enjoy refreshments/food while you write, that will be available for purchase. We will also provide some sample letters/notes to be used.
