A Calgary company trying to develop a sand mine in Saskatchewan to supply the hydraulic fracturing industry has been ordered cease traded by the Alberta Securities Commission.
The regulator on Wednesday ordered a 15-day halt in all trading in securities and derivatives by North America Frac Sand, Inc., which is quoted for trading in the United States on the Over-the-Counter markets.

Well completion companies use certain grades of sand to inject into fracked oil and gas wells to hold open the fractures and allow more petroleum to be extracted.
