Parkland Institute - June 4, 2024

If you’ve been struggling to make sense of the UCP’s flurry of wild policy moves, you are not alone. Every week it seems there is an announcement that turns things upside down. The government is moving aggressively on a number of fronts simultaneously, overwhelming the capacity of Albertans to absorb it all.

Our new blog post by Parkland director Jason Foster and research manager Rebecca Graff-McRae connects the dots between Bills and goals, and reveals the method in the madness: “These policies are part of an overt ideological agenda being implemented by sowing chaos in the system, and removing barriers to achieve a low-tax, fossil fuel-dependent, corporate-friendly ‘utopia.’”

You may also want to know that an abridged version of this blog was published as an op-ed in the Edmonton Journal on May 31, 2024 (June 1st for the print Journal).
