EXCERPT: "The reality is that post-secondary education – either at the university or college level – is the one chance young people have to find a way through an increasingly insecure future. As many job areas begin to feel the pressure, employment counsellors are advising students to invest in “higher value roles.”

Like what?

Over the last twenty years, employment counsellors told people that the jobs of the future lay in computer programming. And yet that industry is being wiped out as AI can do computer programming and modelling very well.

The result is a crap shoot where young people have to take on the financial risk of guessing if their education or educational retooling will lead to a job or just a dead end with high student debt.

We need to look at the crashing numbers of youth happiness in this country. The future is being gambled with and our young people are losing out."
