Today, Nancy Green, a fantastic Canadian skier and Olympic champion, was nominated to the Senate by Steven Harper.

Unfortunately she did not demonstrate the astute judgement of Jean Beliveau, who, when similarly offered a seat in the Senate, had the real class to decline.

Unlike Green's reputation, Beliveau's reputation and integrity record remain unsullied.

Let's hope she finds some way to redeem herself before history paints her as pawn in the machinations of Prime Minister Harper who is already making Mulroney look like a saint.
