What a Week!
GASLAND a Film by Josh Fox
A lot happened this week that we want to share with you so instead of just one video of the week you get three. Happy Friday to you.
The first is a powerful interview with our dear friend and constant source of strength and inspiration, Sandra Steingraber. Sandra was recently arrested along with 72 other citizens for blockading the gas storage facility of Crestwood Midstream. Crestwood is a Texas-based company that is looking to store gas in salt caverns under Seneca Lake, threatening the drinking water for 100,000 people.
Sandra was sentenced to 15 days in jail and will miss Thanksgiving with her family, but she feels her act of civil disobedience is the most important thing she can do as a mother to defend her family.

From Sandra:
“We’re suppose to protect our children from harm and we’re suppose to plan for their future. And when our children’s environment is threatened by toxic chemicals, we can’t protect them. And when the climate itself is falling to pieces, we can’t plan for their futures. So I can’t be a good mother, even if I stayed home and cooked a turkey for Thanksgiving. I see this as an act of Motherhood. I have reached the point where I can be a better parent inside of jail, then I can outside of jail.”

Watch KXl=GAME OVER FOR NYC by Peter Eliscu
[ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vio4nE7 ... e=youtu.be ]
The second video is from a rally on Tuesday against the Keystone XL pipeline that Josh spoke at with Zephyr Teachout, Myrtle E. Williams of 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, Alexis Smallwood from Rockaway Wildfire and Michael Premo from Occupy Sandy. There was also an incredible musical performance from Bethany & Rufus.
As Myrtle and Alexis conveyed in their powerful accounts of what they experienced during and after Hurricane Sandy, NYC is already feeling the impacts of climate change. Climate scientist James Hansen says if the Keystone XL is built and Canadian tar sands are fully developed it’s game over for the climate.
As New Yorkers, we are on the front lines of climate change. We must take a strong stand against continued extreme fossil fuel development and lead the way on renewable energy or the lives we live now will cease to exist.

The third is our latest short film “What Millennials Talk About When They Talk About Climate Change.”

We made this film as part of our Indiegogo campaign to raise funds to take The Solutions Grassroots Tour on the road. [ http://solutionsgrassroots.nationbuilder.com/ ]
How did we do? Thanks to you we shattered our fundraising goal. We can’t thank you all enough for your contributions and support.
Look out for more emails from us soon about bringing The Solutions Grassroots Tour to your community and you can also sign up for updates from Solutions Grassroots at our website http://www.SolutionsGrassroots.com
What I get from all of these videos is that the time for inaction has passed.
Whether it's fossil fuel extraction, the building of fossil fuel infrastructure or the impacts of climate change, it's only a matter of time before everyone single one of us is affected.
It doesn't matter if this is happening to you yet or not. It will, which is why we all need to take a stand now. So please share these videos.

Start getting yourself out of the fossil fuel cycle and running your homes on renewable energy. Act now. The future depends on you.
Thanks and have a great weekend,
